ash vs evil dead

The much-anticipated Ash vs Evil Dead is finally making its Starz debut on Halloween night, and it couldn’t be coming at a better time. With the popularity of shows like The Walking Dead and Daredevil, that push the envelope in terms of mixing a compelling story with more adult themes, this is truly a time when a gory, dark comedy like Ash vs Evil Dead can be appreciated. Bruce Campbell will reprise his role as Ashley J. Williams with his trademark chainsaw, boomstick, and chin in tow.  Evil Dead alums Rob Tapert and Ivan Raimi will be in executive producer roles, and Sam Raimi will return to the directors chair for the pilot and continue on as an executive producer as well.ash vs evil dead

There are also a few new faces joining the cast. Lucy Lawless plays a mysterious character who will stop at nothing to find out why the deadites are back and what Ash’s connection is. Ray Santiago and Dana DeLorenzo will serve as Ash’s sidekicks, and Jill Marie Jones will play  a state trooper trying to figure out what the hell is going on with the deadites’ terror spree.

The series will take place in the present, 30 years after the infamous trip to the cabin. Ash has ditched his S-Mart name tag and moved on to something bigger and better–ValueStop, a big-box store. Yes, Ash in the real world is quite different than the debonair, chainsaw wielding, deadite exterminator we last saw in the dark ages. He has become a girdle-wearing, door-greeting, trailer park dweller.

While reluctant to do battle at first, Ash eventually realizes he must do his part to send these deadites back to hell in comedic and incredibly gory fashion. Possibly the best thing about Ash vs Evil Dead is that it is on Starz, so there will be no holding back on the over-the-top violence that fans of the movie series have come to love!!
