Marvel has released the full trailer for the Jessica Jones Netflix series, scheduled for release on November 20. Kristen Ritter will play Jessica Jones, a super heroine that gave up the super life to become a private investigator. Take a look at the brand new trailer.
The show looks like it will follow the dark story of Jessica Jones fairly closely. Her story began in the Marvel Max series Alias, and was the first marvel comic to feature the unedited F-bomb. I don’t want to let loose any spoilers, so I’ll simply say the story gets sexual and dark. If you would like to learn more about the Jessica Jones Netflix series, I would suggest picking up a graphic novel or two, starting with Alias.
The protagonist of Alias will return for the Netflix series, as the Purple Man, also known as Dr. Zebediah Killgrave, will be played by David Tennant. Rounding out the cast will be Rachael Taylor as Jessica’s bestie Trish Walker (Hellcat from the comics), Carrie-Anne Moss as Jeryn Hogarth, Rosario Dawson returning as Claire Temple, and at least one appearance by Luke Cage, played by Mike Colter.

It appears the dark, violent tone of Daredevil was only the tip of the iceberg, as the Jessica Jones Netflix series is set to tackle subject matter we haven’t seen before in any live-action Marvel enterprises. Zebediah Killrave, the Purple Man, has the ability to make anyone do exactly what he tells them, and his twisted nature makes anyone unfortunate enough to cross his path into willing participants in his sick games. We’re not exactly sure how far the series will go in this respect, as the Purple Man is known to as sexually devious as he is violent. He is the reason Jessica Jones quit being a superhero, but we still don’t know how the story will change from book to screen. If the subject matter of the Daredevil series is any indication, we will be in for a disturbing ride with Jessica’s origin story.
